Bachelor's degree in distributive sciences and a bachelor's degree in elementary and secondary education with an emphasis in chemistry, biology and physics.  Nominated to National Dean's List in 1987.

Studied Japanese language and culture at Kansai Gaidei University of Foreign Study in Osaka, Japan.  Taught English to Japanese college students.  Taught grade school for one year in Eveleth, Minnesota.  Taught high school chemistry and biology for one year in St. Louis Park, Minnesota.

Jim was born in 1956 in St. Paul, Minnesota.  He lives in Virginia with his son, Alexander and his daughter, Audrey.  He enjoys a variety of outdoor activities including fishing, hunting, sailing and curling.
