John was born in 1947 in Virginia, Minnesota.  John and his wife, Linda, have raised five daughters.  They live in rural Virginia, Minnesota, where John enjoys spending time with his family, gardening and bee keeping. He also enjoys spending time in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, canoeing and fishing.
